Nate Stencil

Nate Stencil started in the construction industry by helping his father. He filled roles ranging from on-site help, superintending, and project management to in office development on residential development, multi-family, and commercial projects throughout South Dakota.

In 2009, he founded what would become Stencil Group. Over the ensuing 13 years, Nate has overseen massive growth of his company. Since debuting in the Sioux Falls metro area, Stencil Group has expanded to the major markets in South Dakota and Minneapolis (North Loop District).

VP/Project Manager

Pete Stencil

Pete Stencil laid the foundation for his expertise in the construction industry over 20 years ago. He has been with Stencil Group since January of 2009, working closely with project superintendents and project managers at every level of the building process to ensure our multi-family buildings are the best they can be, inside and out.

When not on the job, Pete enjoys daily walks with his wife of 25 years, Robin, and their pair of Siberian Huskies. He also spends time playing golf, hanging out with his family, and cheering on the Vikings.

Chief Business Officer

Shane Weber

Shane started with Stencil in 2018, when Nate enlisted him to help with the purchase of a couple small retail spaces in Sioux Falls. The partnership between the two lifelong friends progressed from there, leading Shane into his current position as Stencil Group’s lead financial voice. As a banker by trade, Shane holds a MBA from Augsburg University in Minneapolis and a bachelor’s in real estate development from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.

Shane keeps himself busy when he’s not in the office – he’s an avid outdoorsman, an evening musician, and dedicates himself to causes he cares about.

Head Accountant + Controller

Rachel Waits

Since joining Stencil in January 2020, Rachel has made our numbers make sense. She handles the day-to-day accounting across all of our properties, from Minnesota to the Dakotas. Rachel has a background in banking and a desire to make things work, no matter what it takes, knowing that no two deals are the same. She’s excited for Stencil’s future because it means enriching communities by providing homes that fit their residents.

When Rachel’s not in the office, she is outside, either running, biking, fishing, or camping.

Project Superintendent

Jerry Guyette

Jerry joined Stencil Group in 2021 as a job superintendent. His ability to keep track of schedules, materials, safety codes, and employees has been honed over the last 12 years. His comfort on the job site stems from his experience as a carpenter, a trade he began practicing in 1975.

He keeps his carpentry skills sharp when he’s not at work; woodworking is one of his hobbies. He recently did most of the cabinet work and trim in the new, countryside home he, his wife, and their horses share.

Project Superintendent

Jim Walsh

Before Jim joined Stencil Group in 2022, he’d been a project superintendent for 15 years. Before that, he worked as a carpenter. The satisfaction of seeing daily progress gets him out of bed every morning.

When he’s not handling site supervision, vendor and material scheduling, safety code compliance, and overall site management, Jim spends time at his small hobby farm with his horses, dogs, chickens, and cats. He also enjoys time in the woods or water, hunting or fishing.

Project Superintendent

Steve Martin

In September 2017, Steve Martin, site superintendent, joined our team. His background in concrete and masonry makes him a detail-oriented, hard-work-loving addition to the crew. He views coordinating subcontractor schedules and managing material needs as challenges to be solved. Standing back and seeing a job well done gives him a sense of satisfaction and motivation for the next project.

Outside of work, Steve stays busy with rugby and home improvement projects. He also enjoys family time, golf and cooking on the grill or smoker.

Executive Assistant

Jack Weber

Jack Weber started with us in October 2021. Since graduating with a business administration degree from Augustana University in 2020, he’s worked for Stencil on everything from finance to green compliance.

A quick pace is where he finds peace outside of work, too. When he can, Jack is either racing cars or downhill skiing, seeking for focus through speed. He also enjoys concerts and travel.

Project Superintendent

Bruce Gilbertson

Bruce Gilbertson started with Stencil Group in 2017. He’s helped keep projects on time ever since. His ability to supervise a site and its resources has led to several successful multi-family housing projects. As a family man, providing housing for others has given him a lot to feel proud of.

He lives in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with his three kids. The family spends as much time outside as possible, hunting, fishing, and bicycling.
